Chaplain Spavarie (Spally) Taylor is the daughter of the late Joseph and Leola Blie. Chap. Spavarie Taylor married Mr. Samuel Taylor in 1972. They have three children and six grandchildren.
Chap. Taylor is a graduate of Demark Technical College and Mansfield Business College, where she earned degrees in tailoring and business, respectively and continue her Education at Voorhees College and L.R. Nicholas Seminary. She has also received degree in counseling and certification in Hostage Negations, Domestic Violence, Youth Violence, School Violence, Safe School, Critical Incident Stress Management and Pastoral Crisis Intervention
Chap. Taylor has been a Chaplain with Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy for 12 years.
A former member of International Conference of Police Chaplains and South Carolina Law Enforcement Chaplain Association, where she served as Secretary/Treasurer and the former president of Tri-county Victim Council.
Currently Spally is a full time Victim Advocate for North Charleston Police Department where she continues to serve victims.
Rev. Taylor has been in the ministry for 28 years and is the formal pastor of St. Mary A.M.E Church Red Top, were she served for 10 years. Formal pastor of St. James A.M/E in McClellanville, SC where she served for 13 years. Now she blessed to serve the great people at New Bethel A.M.E Church Red Top.
She has received various awards and recognition for her work from Police agencies, schools, churches, community organization and local newspaper.
Her goal in life is to serve and help as many as she can with the direction and help from God.
